The Honda Off-Road Factory Racing team kicked off the 2021 season with solid finishes for the Talons and Ridgeline in theKing of the Hammers(KOH) event, long touted as one of the roughest off road races.
Once again, the Honda Off-Road Factory race team met the brutal challenges of desert racing head-on in the 24th annual Best In The Desert Vegas to Reno, against a record-breaking field of entries. The team’s well-prepped Baja Ridgeline and Talons faced a variety of challenges over the race course’s 514 miles.
After a long, tumultuous season of unknowns, the Team Honda Talon No. 1893 battled to win the 53rd running of the SCORE Baja 1000 and earn a SCORE World Desert Championship in the Pro UTV Unlimited Class driven by Eliott Watson
It’s been a busy late summer/fall season for the Honda Off-Road Factory Racing team, as the rescheduling of races has jam-packed the past three months with races, testing, and refining set-ups for each race – which has paid off with podiums for both the Ridgeline and Talons.
Patience paid off for the Team Honda Racing Off-Road team in the long awaited 2020 SCORE Baja 500 held on September 26, with two podiums – Class 7 win/13th overall for the Honda Ridgeline and P2 in the Pro UTV Unlimited Class for Eliott Watson piloting the No. 1893 Honda Talon. Long touted, The Great American Off Road Race,The Mint 400, is also a notoriously rough course on equipment and drivers as hundreds of entries do their laps, making the race course ever-changing and unpredictable. The 2020 edition, held in the desert south of Las Vegas, NV, was the longest ever – 428 miles in four 107 mile long laps.
Coming off a two-year winning streak, the Honda Off-Road Racing Team and its Ridgeline Baja Race Truck opened the 2020 off-road racing season with a mountain of highs and one ultimate low of a DNF in the “7200” class for V6-powered race trucks in Friday’s Best In The Desert Parker 425.
The season is off to a solid start for the Team Honda Talon Factory Racing program, on one of the roughestKing of the HammersUTV courses, with impressive finishes for the two cars of No. 94 Christopher Polvoorde and No. 3 Eliott Watson, as attested by the 25% finishing rate - 133 started and only 33 finished.
